Climate change and air pollution threaten our future – but by investing in renewable energy and stopping the waste of energy and natural resources, we can protect our health and the environment, and boost the economy.
“Climate change and environmental threats were one of the main reasons I got involved in politics and 30 years later they are still just as important. We need a Government who will actually fight for our future by investing in renewable energies, tackle London's air quality problem and protecting our environment. I will continue to work to keep Sutton as one of the greenest and cleanest boroughs in London - Tom Brake."
Our plans to keep Sutton green
I will continue to:
- Protect the green belt which runs through our constituency.
- Work with local Councillors and the community to deliver on the £3.6 million Heritage Lottery Fund for Beddington Park.
- Work with Sutton Council to increase our recycling rates and tackle littering and fly-tipping
- Fight against Tory proposals to repeal the hunting ban.
Oppose ‘fracking’ because of its adverse impact on climate change and the local environment.
Prevent 40,000 premature deaths a year by cutting air pollution through the introduction of an Air Quality Plan.
