In July, The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) and Big Lottery Fund announced £34.5 million of investment in 13 parks across the UK. One of the parks chosen, was Sutton’s very own Beddington Park. This week, they are celebrating their successful bid for the first stage of the improvement scheme.
Beddington Park and the Grange were awarded a joint grant of £3,203,900. The Friends of the Park and Sutton Council will be working in partnership with local people, stakeholders and businesses to make Beddington Park more attractive, building on the strong bedrock of local pride and historical assets.
Tom Brake, MP for Carshalton and Wallington, who will be attending the celebrations said, “The work that the Council and Friends of Beddington Park have put in to ensure our local parks, which are so valued, are improved and safe for all of us to enjoy is amazing.
I am very much looking forward to the celebrations at the wonderful Pavilion café, who incidentally have been nominated by many local residents as their favourite café in my local independent business competition that finishes today.”
