Brake Joins SHEF over a Latte

Tom Brake joined parents at the Sports Village in Sutton on Tuesday to find out more about SHEF - the Sutton Home Education Forum.

The Sports Village was the chosen meeting place because it provides many sporting activities for home-educated children.

Tom said, “For many parents, home educating can be a daunting prospect.  It is great to know that there is an organisation like SHEF out there that can support parents and help them access services and activities that are central to their child’s development”.

Samia Tossio, SHEF’s Founder added, “SHEF is keen to reach out to all home educators so they are aware of the help that SHEF can give or indeed the fun that places like the Sports Village can provide for our children.”

Keith Sohl, Founder of the Sports Village commented, “I am very pleased that the Sports Village was able to host today’s meeting.  The Sports Village provides a range of sporting challenges for children of all ages who are educated at home.  We see making sport accessible to all as part of our mission.”

SHEF is run by home educating parents and was set up in June 2012 to collaborate with Sutton Education Authority on all matters regarding Home Education.

SHEF also supports families who are new to or considering Home Education and can link up home-educating parents with many regular home education groups, activities, classes & social meet-ups.
