Tom Brake Encourages Local Schools to Raise Students' Awareness About Waste & Recycling

February 6, 2004 12:00 AM

Tom Brake wrote to all secondary schools in Carshalton and Wallington to invite them to join a new teaching programme that raises students' awareness about waste and recycling. www.capitalwastelearning.com is an interactive website tool that deals with issues surrounding waste management and the need to establish markets for recycled materials. The website provides plenty of easy-to-access facts and information about waste created by London's households and the importance of recycling to help achieve a sustainable environment and economy.

Tom Brake said:

"It is important to ensure that today's young people become the energy behind the recycling efforts of tomorrow. This interactive website is an impressing teaching tool which will raise students' awareness about recycling and environmental sustainability."

The site is written by education and curriculum specialists and is designed to be used as a twelve-week teaching programme or for stand alone lesson plans by teachers.
