Taking the views of local residents

During his Christmas break from Parliament, local MP Tom Brake spent some time canvassing the opinions of his constituents on proposed changes to the 726 bus route. Transport for London (TfL) are planning to make substantial changes to this route which will affect many users living in the Borough of Sutton. Many local people use the service to move around the borough as well as using the service to go to Croydon, Kingston and Heathrow. The route has however, been subject to delays and unreliability due in part to its length.

Mr Brake said,

"Transport for London want to see the 726 become an express service that will make two stops (at Wallington Green and Sutton Post Office) in the borough on its way between Croydon and Heathrow. We went on board the 726 bus to canvass the views of bus users of the proposal. I fear that proposed changes will make it more difficult for local residents to travel to the two transport hubs of Croydon and Heathrow."
