NOW IT'S UP TO YOU -- BRAKE

May 4, 2005 1:19 PM

Tomorrow will see an end to this hard-fought election campaign. It is now up to you to decide who will represent you for the next 5 years. In Carshalton and Wallington the choice is not that hard. You can re-elect Liberal Democrat Tom Brake, a local candidate who has worked tirelessly for his constituents since 1990 on issues such as St Helier Hospital, local primary and secondary schools, the number of police on the beat, pensions and public transport. This was also recognised by the Evening Standard, which put Tom in the top-3 of all London MPs for 'value for money'.

Or you can elect a very recently 'local' (who has not been willing to explain in exactly what way he is local) Tory.

Tom Brake said,

"It's been a hectic campaign but I was delighted to meet so many supportive constituents during my hours of campaigning on the streets of Beddington, Carshalton, Clockhouse, Hackbridge, St Helier, Sutton and Wallington. It has shown me that local people have taken notice of what I have done for them over the last 15 years, first as a Councillor and since 1997 as a MP."

10 reasons to vote for the Liberal Democrats:-

1. Put patients first - faster diagnosis so your NHS treatment can start more quickly.

2. Free personal care when you need it - no one forced to sell their home to pay for care.

3. No tuition fees, no top-up fees - university affordable for every student.

4. Cut primary school class sizes - spend the £1.5bn Child Trust Fund money when it matters most

5. 10,000 more police on the streets - cutting crime and the fear of crime.

6. £100 more on the pension every month at 75 - a million pensioners off means-testing.

7. Free off-peak local bus travel - for all pensioners and disabled people.

8. Axe the Council Tax - Local Income Tax is both fair and affordable.

9. Take climate change seriously - cut pollution, cut congestion, and boost renewable energy.

10. We should not have gone to war in Iraq - it's time to restore trust in government.

If you are a resident of the Carshalton and Wallington constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
