Tom Brake

Liberal Democrat MP for Carshalton and Wallington

Summer Work Experience With Local MP

August 26, 2005 12:00 AM

Tom Brake MP for Carshalton and Wallington has once again offered young people the chance to have work experience in his constituency and Westminster offices. This is now an annual tradition.

One of this year's participants is Gassimou Barry, a young refugee from Guinea who came to this country 2 years ago and lives in the St Helier area.

Mr Barry said, "I am very happy with this initiative which I think is playing an important role in my education. The event I enjoyed most was when I accompanied Mr Brake to a meeting in Westminster with a Palestinian delegation from Lebanon. As well as taking part in this meeting I had a tour around Parliament and therefore learn about British history. In his constituency office, I saw how hard Mr Brake works to solve his constituents' problems."
