TOM BRAKE MP DEMANDS BETTER NHS DENTISTRY

June 12, 2006 11:56 AM

Tom Brake, MP for Carshalton and Wallington, has criticised the government for not doing more to improve NHS dentistry services. In his constituency, Mr. Brake points out; only two in five adults are registered with an NHS dentist.

Commenting on the latest figures, Mr. Brake said, "The government has done nothing. The number of adults registered with an NHS dentist has been stagnant since 2001 and has barely improved for children. This is very concerning".

The Liberal Democrats propose cutting unfair charges by offering free dental checks, which would encourage people to register with the NHS.
