Hit Squad May Have to Go in and Sort Out PCT - Brake

October 19, 2007 2:31 PM

The Healthcare Commission Report published yesterday, 18 October 2007 shows a very mixed picture for the performance of two local NHS trusts, Epsom and St Helier University NHS Trust and Sutton and Merton Primary Care Trust according to Tom Brake MP. In contrast, the South West London and St George's Mental Health Trust is making strong progress.

Commenting on the report, Tom Brake MP for Carshalton and Wallington said, "The Sutton and Merton PCT's performance was once again lacking, with the promised improvements failing to materialise. If they cannot turnaround their performance in the next few months, a hit squad may need to be sent in to sort out them out."

In terms of quality of service, Sutton and Merton received a rating of weak, compared to last year's rating of fair. In use of services, the rating is fair an improvement on last year's weak rating. The Trust is in the weak category.

At Epsom and St Helier, the quality of services was rated as good, in comparison to last year's fair. In terms of use of services however, this year a rating of weak was given, compared to last year's fair.

On a more positive note, the Epsom and St Helier Trust went up one level from fair to good in the past year. It now falls into the 'good' category.

If you are a resident of the Carshalton and Wallington constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
