Brake Goes Back to School

On Tuesday 26 February, Tom Brake MP, Liberal Democrat for Carshalton and Wallington, visited year 12 at Wallington High School for Girls. Whilst he talked for only ten minutes, the remainder of the time was devoted to questions from the students.

The students enquiries related to subjects as wide ranging as the inheritance tax, whether or not the UK needs more prisons to how Tom became a Liberal Democrat in the first place.

Speaking after the meeting, Tom commented,

"It's exciting to see that whilst these students may not be able to vote at the moment, it's clear that when they turn eighteen they will all exercise that right. In addition, I would not be surprised in the least, in the coming years, given their interest in politics, to see many of them as MPs themselves."
