Ten Years On, Developing Country Debts Still Not Cancelled

The St Margaret's Justice and Peace Group led by Anne Towner - formed from parishioners from St Margaret's Church - presented Tom Brake with a petition on Saturday in support of the Jubilee Debt Campaign.

The campaign seeks much wider cancellation of debt amongst the poorest countries.

Tom Brake will be taking up the Justice and Peace Group's concerns with the International Development Secretary.

Tom said, "The campaign is celebrating its tenth anniversary but the celebrations will be muted because there are still many very poor countries crippled by debt. We must maintain our focus on this campaign, even if here in the UK people are beginning to feel the pinch."
