Big Q - Listening Event - A Big Success

April 24, 2009 12:51 PM

Carers, Care Agencies, LBS employees, Tom Brake MP and Marion Harper the Director of Age Concern met recently for the Big Q - Listening Event at the Civic Offices in Sutton.

The Big Q - Listening Event, organised at the suggestion of carers, aimed at getting carers and Care Agencies to work out ways of working together more effectively.

Marion Harper, the Director of Age Concern said,

"The listening event gave older people, their carers and domiciliary care agencies an initial opportunity to explore how they can work together to ensure that in the future our care system delivers higher quality services that meet the expectations of older people.

"Our message is simple and clear - this is an exciting opportunity, we'd like to hear people who use homecare services and their carers."

Tom Brake said, "It was such a simple idea. Bring together carers with the Care Agencies to find ways to; communicate together more effectively, obtain accurate information about Care Agencies and ensure complaints are dealt with properly. It worked a treat and could be a model for how to improve the relationship between carers and Care Agencies across the country.

Age Concern want to see care and support which will maximise an individual's quality of life, sustain their independence, and promote and protect their human rights.

If you are a resident of the Carshalton and Wallington constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
