There was standing room only at Granfers Hall, in Oakhill Road, Sutton when over 250 people turned out for the joint Council and Parliamentary Campaigns celebration on Saturday evening.

Sutton's Liberal Democrats and their supporters were out in force to celebrate the election of 43 Liberal Democrat Councillors (out of a total of 54 on Sutton Council) and Tom Brake and Paul Burstow MP.

Tom Brake, the MP for Carshalton and Wallington saw his majority increase five fold from just over a thousand to more than five thousand whilst Paul Burstow MP for Sutton and Cheam, now a Health Minister in the coalition government, fought off a strong Conservative challenge.

The evening's festivities were followed by a more serious Q+A session about the coalition government and its impact on Sutton and beyond.
