This week Carshalton and Wallington MP Tom Brake spoke out to praise the role of the Lloyds TSB Foundation in providing grants to charities focusing on disadvantaged and marginalised groups and individuals in Sutton.

Last year in Sutton three charitable organisations received grants from the Foundation. Home-Start Sutton, which provides support and advice for families, received £25,000. Both Sutton Women's Aid, which was set up to help victims of domestic violence, and the Women's Centre received just under £20,000.

Tom said: "It's wonderful that these grants are going to some of the neediest people in Sutton. The work that these groups do is both tireless and highly commendable, and so this recognition of their efforts is great to see."

Since its creation in 1986, the Foundation has handed out grants totalling £297 million. Last year, they provided over 900 grants totalling over £23 million across the country.

Tom continued: "This year marks the Foundation's 25th anniversary, and I would like to congratulate them on the good work they have done not just in Sutton but nationwide."
