Tom Brake is urging local businesses to reach into their pockets and help a local youth scheme.

'Kickz', a local programme run alongside Crystal Palace FC and the local police force, is looking to raise £18,000 in donations from local businesses by August. The scheme gives young people between the ages of 12 and 18 from the Benhill and Shankhill estates the chance to play football for free in a safe environment on weekday evenings.

Tom said: "The scheme is great way of getting young people active, and in some cases it can give kids a really positive influence in life."

Kickz is one of over a hundred similar projects that work with local police forces in some of the most disadvantaged areas in country. Since its creation in 2006, the scheme has engaged over 45,000 young people nationwide.

Tom continued: "This is a wonderful programme. I hope that businesses in our area can help to keep it running and grow."
