Last week local MP Tom Brake headed to the Herne Hill Velodrome to take to the track and compete in his penultimate Olympic Challenge. The sporty MP was given the chance to race the track along aspiring young riders.

Tom Brake said, "I may not possess the speed or precision of Olympic champions Sir Chris Hoy or Bradley Wiggins, but it was great to see so many talented young cyclists training on the track that has produced such Olympic champions".

"Cycling as fast as you can, with no brakes and on a sloping track was quite a scary experience - it really put team GB's cycling achievements into perspective.

Tom Brake is taking part in ten Olympic sports in aid of Bliss, the babycare charity, as part of the Olympic Challenge. Tom's final challenge will see him go head-to -head with young athletes at Sutton Arena.
