Commenting on the report of a refrigeration unit failure at St Helier Hospital which affected the families of five deceased children.

Tom Brake said, "My first thoughts are for the families who must have been devastated to receive this news. My second is that this incident should never have happened. Backup and early warning procedures must be in place and regularly tested to ensure they work. The hospital's internal review must identify what went wrong and what additional foolproof arrangements are needed to ensure this tragedy is never repeated."
