Local MP cleans up community

November 2, 2012 1:10 PM

Carshalton and Wallington MP Tom Brake, local councillor Alan Salter and London Euro List candidate Anuja Prashar were amongst a dedicated group who took part last Saturday in a pick up litter morning in Greenshaw Woods, Rosehill.

The clean-up was part of Community Service Volunteers Day, a day to recognise the importance of those who donate their time for the betterment of their community.

Tom said "We collected around a dozen bags of rubbish in just a few hours. It was a group effort that paid off extremely well, and it was a real pleasure knowing that thousands of people all over the country were improving their community just as we were."

"A completely litter-free Carshalton and Wallington is a long way off, but Saturday was a great start to that end. Just a bit at a time can make all the difference in the long run, and this community event has brought us one step closer."
