MP for Carshalton and Wallington Tom Brake is giving his full support to the new Grocery Code Adjudicator, a body that can more efficiently regulate the sale of food in Britain. The Adjudicator has the power to fine supermarkets who deal unfairly with farmers and other suppliers.

Tom said "This is a major step forward in securing better security for smaller suppliers, which are often at the mercy of their larger and more powerful counterparts. The Adjudicator will make sure that supermarkets that break the rules are held accountable."

The creation of the Grocery Code Adjudicator has been a goal of the Liberal Democrats for a decade and was laid out in the manifesto.

Tom said "I'm incredibly proud that this long-awaited body is finally being established.
