Fall in Local Unemployment

December 14, 2012 10:51 AM

Local MP Tom Brake has welcomed the news that 95 fewer people are now claiming unemployment benefit in Carshalton and Wallington than a year ago and 12 fewer are claiming since this October.

Nationally the number of people out of work fell by 82,000 between August and October. The biggest quarterly fall since 2001.

"This is welcome news" said Tom "although I know that the next few years will still be difficult, these figures show that everyone locally is doing what they can to promote growth and employment."
