MP and Councillers Press for Action on Hospital Parking

Last Friday local MP Tom Brake and Cllr Dave Callaghan presented NHS bosses with a petition calling for an increase in on-site parking spaces at St the new Helier Hospital.

More than 300 residents have signed the petition calling on Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust to use the redevelopment of St Helier to increase parking and alleviate parking problems in residential roads around the hospital.

Tom Brake said, 'For far too long local residents have had to compete with hospital staff to park near their homes. Additional parking spaces and affordable fees would relieve the pressure on the roads surrounding the hospital and improve the quality of life for residents".

Cllr Dave Callaghan, who represents St Helier ward on Sutton Council, said, 'At the moment many hospital staff and visitors park in residential roads, creating real problems for local residents. I hope the hospital will listen to the hundreds of people in St Helier who simply want to park near their home."
