Trouble with Sat-navs

Drivers using sat-navs are having problems finding the Riverside Centre in Carshalton, and are reportedly being sent to wrong addresses.

Some sat-nav systems and online maps seem unable to recognise the Riverside Centre's post code. A few residents have approached their local MP Tom Brake about this problem.

Tom said:

"I have been told that people experience problems getting to the Riverside Centre when using their sat-navs."

"This issue will sort itself out over time, but in the meantime I would advise everyone to check the exact address and location before travelling to the Riverside Centre by car."

"Alternatively, if using public transport, the Riverside's official website gives clear directions on how to get there using buses and trains."

As the centre is located in the newly built part of what was Durand Close, some online maps and sat-nav systems are still unable to find it, even if the correct post code is used. Images on Google maps show the centre under construction, with machinery and workers surrounding it.

Some websites also give a post code different to that provided on the official website of the Riverside Centre. The centre's correct address is 113 Culvers Avenue, Carshalton, SM5 2FJ. It is located next door to the Happy Days Pre-School Nursery, and near the Lavenders flats.

Tom has taken up concerns with Google and has now submitted a request to show the Riverside Centre at the correct location on the map, and display the correct post code. He has also contacted some of the sat-nav device providers, asking them to update their information.
