Tom Brake MP has welcomed the news that a local Indian restaurant - Saregama in Carshalton Beeches - will have the chance to fight for this year's title of the Best South Asian Restaurant in the UK.

Saregama has been selected to represent Carshalton and Wallington in this year's edition of the Tiffin Cup. The selected restaurant has been officially accepted by the judges and will now enter the regional final with an opportunity to win a place in the Grand Final.

Tom said:

"I am delighted that the nomination for Saregama has been accepted and will take part in this year's Tiffin Cup. I look forward to welcoming Saregama to the House of Commons should they win their regional heat."

"I am sure everyone in Carshalton and Wallington will be rooting for Saregama to become Tiffin Cup 2013 champions!"

Tiffin Cup is awarded every year by the Tiffin Club of MPs. MPs from all over the county are asked to nominate a restaurant from their constituency to take part in this mouth-watering competition. Saregama has been selected in a competition run by Tom Brake throughout March during which local residents were encouraged to submit nominations for their favourite restaurant.

This years is the 8th edition of the Cup. Last year a record 89 restaurants were nominated from around the country. The aim is not only to applaud the quality of South Asian food in Britain but also to raise much needed money for charity. This year the competition is in aid of the Charity 'World Vision'.

Chair of the Tiffin Club, Keith Vaz MP said:

"After the overwhelming success of last year's competition we are looking forward to another chance to sample some of the best offerings of Indian food in Britain."

"I wish Saregama the best of luck in the competition!"

The Grand Final of the Tiffin Cup 2013 will be held at the House of Commons on Tuesday 2 July 2013. Tom Brake with the owner of Saregama, Mr Ali.
