Wallington based business, Aaron Electronics Manufacturing Services Itd., has agreed to be a judge in the We Made It! Competition launched in May by Carshalton and Wallington MP Tom Brake.

This competition invites students aged 11-14 to submit their design for any product, gadget, gizmo, toy or tool they would like to see made into a real-life prototype, which will be judged by Tom Brake MP and local businesses.

Tom Brake

"The UK is in desperate need of more young people taking up engineering and high-level manufacturing careers."

"This comp Tom launching the We Made it! competition.etition is a great way to help students gain a first-hand look at how the manufacturing and engineering industries actually work".

"I am really looking forward to working with local businesses to judge the innovative entries from local students and, if we are really lucky, finding the next Robert Dyson!"

Tom needs one more local business to get involved and help judge the entries and to choose the student who will represent Carshalton and Wallington in the national competition rounds. The best entries nationwide will be invited to one of the UK's Fab Labs, where they will use the very latest high-tech fabrication methods and find out how to bring their ideas to life with the Lab's experts.

At the end of this year, the winner of the local competition will be invited to the awards ceremony in Parliament where they will have the opportunity to meet the heads of the manufacturing organisations involved in the project and learn how to further their career.

For anyone interested in entering the competition, entries are due by 27th September and can be emailed here: wemadeit@dods.co.uk. For more information on the We Made It! Competition visit their website at http://www.wemadeituk.co.uk/.
