Have your say on Transparency Bill

September 30, 2013 4:34 PM

Local MP, Tom Brake, is inviting local residents to attend an open meeting to discuss the Transparency Bill this Friday evening.

One of the aims of the Transparency Bill is to take big money out of politics to prevent our political system from ending up like the USA. However, some people have been concerned about the impact the Bill might have on charities and campaign groups.

Tom said, "It is not and has never been the intention of this Bill to in any way restrict the ability of charities to campaign to change government policy or on other issues they feel strongly about".

The Government will be making amendments which will address the concerns raised about the apparent effect of the Bill on the ability to campaign on policy issues.

The meeting will take place from 7-8.30pm on Friday 4th October at Strawberry Log Strawberry Lane, Carshalton. If you would like to attend, please contact Tom Brake's office on 0208 255 8155 or email info@tombrake.co.uk

The meeting is for residents of Carshalton and Wallington.
