Winning inventor sees idea come to life in Parliament.

March 17, 2014 1:43 PM

Schoolgirl turned inventor, Danielle Miller, 13, saw her invention come to life during an awards ceremony in Parliament.

Last year, Carshalton and Wallington MP Tom Brake invited local students aged 11-14 to take part in national invention competition 'We Made It" by submitting their idea for any product, gadget, gizmo, toy, or tool they would like to see made into a real-life prototype. Danielle's idea for a baby milk bottle which keeps milk at a controlled temperature defeated over 520 other entries around the country and was selected as one of the 7 national winners.

On Tuesday 11th March, the Stanley Park High School pupil, along with her parents, met with their MP Tom Brake, before attending the awards ceremony where Danielle saw, for the first time her product, named 'Milk-o-meter', in real-life form following its construction in 'Fab Labs' across the country.

Mr Brake said: "I congratulate Danielle for such a tremendous achievement. At such a young age, she has huge potential. I hope in a few years time, Danielle will be wowing the entrepreneurs on Dragon's Den."

Danielle commented: "Meeting Tom was great and finally seeing my prototype was fabulous. 'We Made It' has taught me to always try your hardest and never be afraid to share your ideas with other people."

"Although my prototype wasn't what I imagined it to be like, I can develop it and maybe sell some. I am so excited as to what may come out of this experience."

If you are a resident of the Carshalton and Wallington constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
