Carshalton and Wallington MP Tom Brake will this Friday attend the Wallington Christmas lights switch-on ceremony, where the winner of his local primary school Christmas card competition will light up Wallington with a string of festive lights.

The competition was held in schools across Carshalton and Wallington, with children submitting their designs to Tom.  The winning design will be sent out from Tom to over 1,000 residents, local businesses, schools and community organisations. The competition is sponsored by Carshalton-based insurance business, DCL Insurance.

The event will start at 5pm on Friday 25th November at Wallington Old Town Hall, with the switch-on at 7pm.

The ceremony will also feature choirs and two bands until 8pm, plus food supplied by Chef RF, The Woodcote Flying Club, as well as a very special Santa’s Grotto, so children can meet the man himself!

“It was an absolute pleasure to receive so many Christmas card submissions, and this year the standard was higher than ever! I am looking forward to our winner kicking off the festive season on Friday by lighting up Wallington.

I would urge all residents who can to get down to Wallington Old Town Hall in Woodcote Road on Friday to join us for some carolling, food, lights and music. It is always a fantastic and worthwhile event, professionally by local resident Ric Adams and other local residents, and a brilliant way to start the run-up to Christmas.”
