Currently, Carshalton and Wallington has 2490 people in apprenticeships. More people than ever before are taking part in them, with over 1.5 million apprenticeship starts since 2010.
There have been many local Sutton organisations that have taken on apprentices in the last couple of years. One of them being TEC Group in Wallington, who won Small Employer of the Year at the London finals of the Apprenticeship Awards in 2012.
MP for Carshalton and Wallington, Tom Brake, who has long been an advocate for apprenticeships, took the opportunity to experience being one at the Wallington based energy sector recruitment agency.
“Apprenticeships are good for the economy, and good for those trying to obtain the skills they need to prosper.
I thoroughly enjoyed shadowing apprentices at TEC Group today. I got to see first hand the benefits of learning about the industry you want to pursue a career in, whilst earning money and obtaining real qualifications.
TEC Group do a fantastic job with their apprenticeship scheme and I am looking forward to welcoming one of them to shadow me in Westminster in the upcoming weeks.”
