Carshalton and Wallington MP, Tom Brake, is collaborating with Bite The Ballot (BTB) to urge residents to register to vote during the 2016 National Voter Registration Drive.
The third annual National Voter Registration Drive begins on 1st February and runs until 7th February. The aim of this year’s NVRD is to target those who are less likely to have ever been registered. Tom is working with BTB to help raise awareness and mobilise his constituents in Carshalton and Wallington to register.
Tom said “The National Voter Registration Drive is an excellent way to get people excited about voting. With nearly a million names falling off the register in December, it is critical that residents realise the importance of registering, voting, and making an impact in their communities. I am happy to support and raise awareness for Bite the Ballot, and I applaud all their work to ensure that people remain engaged in the voting process.”
Bite The Ballot (‘BTB’) is a party-neutral, youth movement on a mission to engage, inform and inspire people (primarily 25 and under) to participate in democracy, creating a stronger and more equal society by becoming active changemakers. BTB’s NVRD campaigns saw over 50,000 people register to vote in 2014, and 441,696 people during 2015.
