Tom Brake, MP for Carshalton and Wallington used his time at the dispatch box to raise the Save St Helier campaign with his fellow Members of Parliament.
As Deputy Leader of the House of Commons, Tom responds to the customary pre-recess. In his response he praised the role that local campaigners, community groups and friends of St Helier hospital play in the Save St Helier campaign.
Taking full advantage of this time, Tom was able to thank the over 19,000 signatories of his and Paul Burstow MP’s petition to save the A&E and maternity services at St Helier hospital.
Following the debate, Tom said: “As a Minister, these opportunities don’t come very often. But it was important for me to show my appreciation to the thousands of local residents standing by us to fight for the future of our hospital.”
