    Q: Let me know why
A: Agree in principal, needs a lot more detail, this is just one of many ways to raise money as Tom knows only to well. The problem is with lack of adequate punishment for those who do not pay their share of our present system, without adding more layers of administration. Laws for the Rich and Powerful, are not the same for everyone. My view is that they should be much more severe. This is what Mr Tom Brake should be tackling.
The Houses of Parliament are a ruddy JOKE, Its a disgrace as a public service.

    Q: Let me know why
A: Income has fallen by 10% since the recession hit this country according to Mark Carney. In my opinion the working class. ie the low earners, have been hardest hit. To be fair to every one, I feel that it is important that those that are financially better able to contribute to rebuilding the economy should do so.

    Q: Let me know why
A: The Poll Tax System needs re-organising at the upper end but not so that it stifles merit.

    Q: Let me know why
A: What we need is a couple of extra bands for our rates. Mansion tax is a ridiculously leftish idea only confirming that we are envious of those who have a bigger property than us. There are lots of reasons why people own big houses. It does not make them rich necessarily.

    Q: Let me know why
A: As a previous poster noted, it would be fairer to add more bands on top of the existing council tax bandings.
In the real world the owners of multi million pund properties will enjoy the services of highly skilled accountants and tax lawyers. The chances of the full proposed mansion tax being paid are very slim. Different rules apply at the top of the food chain. The proposal is only a cynical vote catcher.

    Q: Let me know why
A: It is about time those with real wealth paid a more proportionate amount to local taxation and the Mansion Tax would allow this. Middle earners have been being absolutely clobbered by raises in income tax, National Insurance and the removal of Child Benefit.

    Q: Let me know why
A: The whole of the property tax system wants revision. With current high house prices in Londo and the SE the majority of house puchase attact 4% tax. A graduated sales tax going from 1% upwards should be introduced say from £330K then2% to £600K 3% 900k and so on.up to 10% ((say) over £10 million. An annual mansion tax isgoing to affect so few people it’s not worth the bothe. Local authority valuations should be made to and the current band rates and thede should be increased to bands say H J K so that athe higher the valuation of your house the more the annual council tax would be. This is a fairer system tha and would do away with the present anomaly where a £750K house is the same as a £2 million house.

    Q: Let me know why
A: Use the mansion tax to reduce the tax burden on the many of your constituents who now get caught by inheritance tax, despite owning only modest homes.

    Q: Let me know why
A: I feel that it is fair that people with much larger properties should pay more tax. However this should also apply to non residents who own properties in this country.
