Tom Brake MP - Representing Carshalton and Wallington in Parliament since 1997

Working locally - acting globally

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 4th May 2004

Tom Brake MP was in Sutton on Friday, to meet local employer and international development company Crown Agents. Crown Agents are located in St Nicholas Road, off Sutton High Street.

The visit provided a fascinating insight into the work of Crown Agents whose responsibilities span; the provision of staff and supplies for humanitarian emergencies, purchasing for developing countries, computer systems for tax collection in developing countries, training and nuclear decommissioning.

Tom Brake said, "It was a revelation to find that here, in the heart of the London Borough of Sutton, there is an organisation that works in most of the hot-spots around the world. It's a case of working locally, acting globally."
