Carshalton and Wallington MP Tom Brake joined representatives from local sports clubs, local businesses, schools and Sutton Council to discuss how Sutton could benefit from a successful Olympic Bid next year to host the 2012 Olympic Games. The meeting was held at Sutton's Junior Tennis Centre on Friday, 12 November.

Tom Brake said, "The Olympics are one of the world's best loved events and it is a dead cert that Sutton would benefit handsomely if London came out on top for 2012. Sutton is already home to world class judo, athletics, shooting and paralympic competitors. By 2012, Sutton could nurture world class athletes in a host of other disciplines. And the health benefits of greater participation in sport would be unquantifiable!"

Mr Brake urged local residents to back the bid by logging on to www.london2012.com
