Post Office Intentions in Doubt

12.00.00am GMT Mon 1st Nov 2004

Tom Brake, Lib Dem MP for Carshalton and Wallington has today written to the Post Office seeking guarantees that there is no closure threat to the main Post Office in Ross Parade in Wallington.

Tom Brake explained, "The Post Office are in the middle of finalising their plans to close a large number of our local sub-Post Offices and at the very same time, they announce that their main branches across the country are losing £70 million per annum and they may have to shut a large number of them.

"With the Wallington branch identified as the receiving branch for customers who currently use the Stafford Road branch should it close and other customers likely to travel to Wallington if the Broadway and Croydon Road branches are shut, Post Office's customers will want to know that the future of the Ross Parade branch is secure".
