Brake Slams Livingstone For U-Turn On Tramlink Extension

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 12th Oct 2004

Carshalton and Wallington MP Tom Brake has condemned the Mayor's new 5 year investment plan published today for failing to include plans for extending Tramlink into Sutton.

Mr Brake said: "At a time when our local area is struggling to cope with traffic congestion, the Mayor makes a u-turn on his promise to extend Tramlink. The Mayor intends to make a £10bn investment in London's transport network but he has ignored Sutton. This is the wrong decision for our local area and I will be working with the Council and the GLA to reverse this decision."
