Stop Aids campaign bus visits Westminster

On Thursday 1st December Tom Brake MP showed his support for the Stop Aids Campaign by visiting the Stop Aids Campaign Bus. The bus was decorated with thousands of pairs of AIDS campaigners' eyes to symbolise the world scrutinising the UK and other countries to see if they keep their promise to provide Aids treatment for all those that need it by 2010.

The event was attended throughout the day by numerous MP's and Ambassadors. This was an opportunity for AIDS campaigners and AIDS policy experts to convey the message that if the 2010 target is to be met there needs to be a real commitment to increased resources, more affordable drugs and strengthening of health systems.

Tom Brake MP said:

"The cost of drugs, a lack of trained staff and under funded clinics are three major barriers in attempts to combat this wide spread epidemic, which claimed the lives of over three million people last year alone.

This event served as an important reminder of the need to maintain pressure on the government if they are to meet their commitment that everyone who requires Aids treatment should receive it."
