CHRISTMAS ON THE CARDS - BRAKE

Tom Brake MP announced the winner of the Carshalton and Wallington annual Christmas card competition on Saturday 3rd December at Wallington Library. A number of those who had entered the competition were present to hear Shannon Brown from Year 8, Carshalton High School for Girls, revealed as the overall winner. Her prize involves the card she designed being professionally printed and sent by Tom Brake to over 1400 people for Christmas.

The competition was of a very high standard with over 350 entries from local school children. These entries were whittled down to a winner and two runners up in three age categories, with Shannon winning the overall prize for her card and poem.

"Thank you to all those who took part, the standard of the cards and poems we received was very impressive. In all the years we have run this competition I can't remember having such a difficult decision to make, so Shannon Brown should be very proud of her achievement. "

Year 3 to Year 6

• Ashley Hodson, Year 5, Green Wrythe Primary School, Second Prize

• Clara Kan, Year 5, St Mary's R.C. Junior School, Third Prize

Year 7 to Year 10

• Shannon Brown, Year 8, Carshalton High School for Girls, First Prize and Overall Winner

• Rebecca Andrews, Year 9, Carshalton High School for Girls, Second Prize

• Emma Nicholls, Year 7, Stanley Park High School, Third Prize
