Crosfield Industries is a Croydon Council owned enterprise which employs mainly workers with disabilities. It is expected to shut at the end of March due to a £1.4 million deficit.
Mr Brake, a number of whose constituents work at Crosfield Industries, said, "I wanted to hear directly from the people employed at Crosfield Industries their concerns for the future and to pledge my support in helping them secure new opportunities."
Crosfield Industries employs 13 able-bodied and 85 people with varying degrees of disability manufacturing signs, double glazed sealed window units and wooden garden objects.
The work experience provides invaluable preparation for employment with outside companies. Although assistance has been promised by Croydon Council for every member of staff, the Unions and workers at Crosfield Industries are fearful that they may find securing alternative employment a real challenge.
