Minister Ducks Sutton's Housing Concerns

2.11.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Thu 11th May 2006

In spite of assurances given by Housing Minister Yvette Cooper after a housing debate a few days ago that there was no prospect of her meeting with Tom Brake MP to discuss the shortage of affordable housing in Sutton being cancelled again, it has now been scrapped for the fourth or fifth time.

Tom Brake said, "The excuse this time was the Government re-shuffle."

Tom Brake, who is seeking to raise with the Housing Minister residents' concerns about the lack of affordable housing in Sutton, where thousands of families are on the housing waiting list added, "I will give the Minister one more chance and then I will raise the matter in Business Questions. The Minister has had more cancellations than Connex did when they were running rail services locally and its time her performance was brought back on track."
