12.37.30pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 12th Jun 2006

Tom Brake, MP for Carshalton and Wallington, participated in the Sport Relief Westminster mile on 7th June, which took place to raise funds for people leading vulnerable lives here at home in the UK and in the poorest countries in the world.

The run was meant to encourage people to "Go the Extra Mile" for Sports Relief on Saturday 15th July. Mr Brake was given a Sports Relief T-Shirt and a red 'Doing It' sock to wear during the run. After completing the mile Mr. Brake was given the other sock so that he could proudly wear the pair during Sports Relief Saturday.
