3.04.49pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 26th Jul 2006

MP for Carshalton and Wallington, Tom Brake, dropped into the Point Café in Cheam for a coffee, cake and a quick chat on Wednesday morning (26th July 2006).

Mr Brake met Jan Prout, the café manager, staff and clients from Mencap. They run the café on a Wednesday as part of a scheme which aims to provide experience in a work setting for people with learning disabilities. The scheme is very actively supported by the local Church, Cheam Baptist Church.

The café will be spent in August but re-opens in September.

Tom Brake said, "I know where to go for my lunch on a Wednesday in Cheam Village. At the Point Café, the service is attentive and is always with a smile."
