A Very Green AGM for Sutton Liberal Democrats1.45.26pm GMT Mon 20th Nov 2006 Liberal Democrats from all across Sutton poured into the Civic Offices last Monday night for their Annual General Meeting. The meeting room was packed and featured speakers including both Sutton's MPs, Tom Brake, and Paul Burstow, as well as Council Leader Cllr Sean Brennan. Tom Brake commented, 'the last 12 months have been a great success for the Liberal Democrats with great by-election results; a fantastic win in Dunfermline beating Labour in the Chancellor's backyard and a very close result in Bromley turning one of the Conservatives' safest seats into a marginal. 'And the national agenda is moving onto our strongest ground with its emphasis on green issues which are at the very heart of Liberal Democrat policy. 'Sustainability isn't something that simply gets thrown on as a trendy accessory for use as a prop for a photo-opportunity. Our track record here in Sutton, one of the country's greenest Councils, proves that it is right at the core of our beliefs.'
