BRAKE EXTENDS INVITATION TO YOUTH

6.09.09pm GMT Wed 7th Feb 2007

Tom Brake Liberal Democrat MP for Carshalton and Wallington is extending an invitation to interested young people who have not yet registered for the upcoming Youth Parliament Competition 2006/7. And he is once again promising to provide support for those teams that have already done so.

Although the deadline for competition registration is scheduled for the 23rd of March 2007, working on the entry generally begins around November so interested parties should try to start planning as soon as possible.

The competition enables young people to gain a deeper understanding of the legislative process and in particular the role of the House of Commons. By using Parliamentary procedure, the competition helps to demystify it, and to demonstrate how the debates are organised and ensure that the decisions that are made are fair and balanced.
