Tom Surveys the Damage at the War Memorial

Tom Brake has expressed his great sadness at the recent actions of the individual or individuals who stole the York stone paving slabs from around the Carshalton War Memorial jeopardising Remembrance Day services.

Veterans may now suffer the indignity of placing memorial wreaths at the damaged base of the cenotaph which has stood for decades in memory of local veterans.

Commenting on the incident Tom Brake said, "Is nothing sacred? First it was the lead off church roofs, now it is the York stone around the war memorial. Those responsible should hang their heads in shame."
