Brake Speaks Out for Victim Support5.37.41pm GMT Mon 19th Nov 2007
Tom Brake, MP for Carshalton and Wallington, spoke at the launch of the new weekly surgery for Sutton victims of crime on 2nd November. At the event, held at the Phoenix Centre, Tom Brake praised the outstanding work done by Victim Support and welcomed the provision of a new outreach office in Roundshaw. Also attending the event was Paul Burstow, the Member of Parliament for Sutton and Cheam. Speaking after the event, Tom Brake said "Victim Support plays a beneficial role in helping those unfortunate enough to be victims of crime to deal with what has happened to them, any increase in its provision has to be a good thing". "I'm pleased the government are beginning to realise the importance of this role, but I do urge local people to donate to the charities that fund Victim Support as the level of funding received from the Home Office is not enough to keep them operating"
