11.31.00pm GMT Sun 2nd Dec 2007

Residents, local Councillors and Tom Brake MP for Carshalton and Wallington are presenting a united front against Wates' (the builders) plans to sell off greens at the junction of Alington Grove and Stratton Avenue in Woodcote.

Tom Brake who was out meeting and leafleting residents on Saturday with local campaigner Patrick Bongo, said, "Local residents have enjoyed the quiet amenity of these green spaces outside their homes for decades. They must continue to enjoy it for many more decades."

Local residents, Lib Dem Deputy Leader of Sutton Council, Cllr Hall and Tom Brake have all requested that Wates stop the auction which is due to take place on the 6th December to allow discussions about the future of the greens to take place.
