Riverside Animal Centre’s Open day was a great success

On Sunday, The Riverside Animal Centre held an open day for local residents to see behind the scenes and meet the animals they rescue. Residents of Carshalton and Wallington voted for the centre to be the chosen local charity for their MP, Tom Brake to fundraise for this year.

A fun-filled day with opportunities to meet the furry residents at the centre, to competitions for the best rescue dog, there was definitely something for everyone. Founder, Ted Burden, took one for the team with an impressive six buckets of ice cold water being poured over him to complete the Ice Bucket Challenge in the name of the thousands of animals that he and the rest of his team help every year.

Local MP, Tom Brake, who visited the centre said, It was great meeting the team and the animals at the Riverside Centre. Seeing first hand where all the generous contributions are going and how they will help the animals has made me even more committed to my training for the WildMan Run this November, which I will be completing for all the animals and volunteers who work so hard at the centre.

The WildMan Run is a 10km cross-country race over hills, mud, sand and more hills, which is regarded as one of the 'most challenging' off-road events.
