Last year, I said that I would hand in the latest St Helier Hospital petition when it would have the most impact.
The South West London Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG) published a five year strategy in 2014 and an Issues paper in 2015 which seek to address the clinical and financial challenges facing the local NHS.
The next step is to agree the detail of how the strategy will be implemented, including the role of each local Hospital and Community provider trust in delivering it.
This process is underway and so now, when there is still time for them to take people’s views into account,is the most appropriate time for the CCG to know the strength of feeling in support of the St Helier Hospital’s A&E and maternity services.
On Friday 8th January, local Councillor Jean Crossby and I presented the 25,000 strong petition to Brendan Hudson, Chair of the Sutton CCG.
Even though the petition has been handed in, the campaign won’t be over until the A&E and maternity services are secure. You can still help the campaign. Find out more by visiting: www.saveoursthelier.co.uk.
I, the undersigned, call on South London CCGs to keep open St Helier Hospital's A&E department, Maternity ward and Children’s ward. To also develop a plan which has local support, is based on solid evidence and provides desperately needed services in the community.
