Secombe and Charles Cryer Theatres to Remain Open

After a protracted battle to prevent their closure, Sutton Council announced that the Secombe and Charles Cryer theatres in Sutton will stay open.

Sutton Council officially gave up control of the buildings to Sutton Theatres Trust after helping the new owners iron out details and plan for future programmes and community partnerships for more than six months. The Trust was set up by two local residents, Beri Juraic and Micha Columbo.

Tom Brake, MP for Carshalton and Wallington, commented,

“I am delighted that the Secombe and Charles Cryer theatres will remain open. I want to thank Sutton Theatres Trust, Sutton Council, and everyone who worked to save the theatres. Without them, Sutton would have lost its theatres and two of its most important cultural sites.”
