Southern Will be Held to Account - Brake

Tom Brake, local MP for Carshalton and Wallington and Southern commuter, is hosting a public meeting with Southern Rail on Tuesday to allow passengers to vent their frustration at Southern’s continuing shocking standards of service and hear from Southern how they intend turning things around.

Tom said

‘Southern has been getting away with an underwhelming service for years. However, recent problems have made train journeys simply unbearable for thousands of passengers. Train cancellations and delays are having a significant impact on people’s families and jobs. We simply cannot let this go on.  I hope many residents will come to this meeting to hold Southern to account. I would like to hear Southern concede that fundamental errors were committed by senior management in terms of staff planning and when the company plans to end the current reduced timetable.'

Tom has called for Southern to be sacked immediately and the Government to address chronic underperformance which is causing thousands of passengers enormous difficulties on their daily commute. Issues have been piling up recently for Southern, with strike action, timetable cuts and proposed ticket office closures compounding an already abysmal standard of service. The sinkhole at Forest Hill has been the final straw!
